Success of Green Lodging Waste Reduction Practices

The hospitality sector has started to become more involved in discovering the benefits of implementing sustainability initiatives and optimizing its operations to encourage the tourism industry to conserve and protect natural resources. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors that affect or influence the performance of specific practices to reduce waste and improve efficiency in hotels participating in the Florida Green Lodging Program. This presentation will report the environmental and economic performance as well as the social behavioral impacts of conservation projects implemented by participating hotels.
